I’ve got some in my freezer now. You’re making me want to thaw them out

Is this some strange NC only thing, I’ve never heard of them before either! So after you boil them, and they’ve cooled do they stay kind of soft??

  4. Manila Mom says:

Glad to hear you love boiled peanuts in NC. We love that here in the Philippines, too. They’re even hawked in the streets, right in the middle of traffic :-D It’s much healthier than fried peanuts - another favorite here, especially with lots of garlic. Boiled peanuts aren’t mushy-soft. They still have an al dente kind of texture. Okay, now I’ll have to go get some…

I grew up in Illinois, but my family was originally from North Carolina (300 years ago) so maybe there is something genetic, but they are good.

I thought it was crazy, but like hot wings and barbeque it works

  6. The Native says:

Ooh, fried peanuts! That sounds just grossly wonderful!

  7. The Native says:

Once a North Carolinian, always a North Carolinian, I guess. Even for three centuries!

Ooh, BBQ. I’ll have to post on real BBQ.

Ew, icky, yucky. Being from Texas, I know nothing of the South - now that’s odd to say, isn’t it? And when dh first told me that, I got offended. “You’re not a Southerner.” “Oh, well, you bet your bippy I am!!!” We went to my mother’s that afternoon and I whined, “Momma, Mark says I’m not from the South!” And shock to my system, she said, “Well, honey, he’s right - you’re not a true Southerner.” Oh my - I think I feel a blog post coming on!!!

Anyhoo - all I’ve learned of “The South” I’ve learned from Mark - and let me tell you, boiled peanuts was one of the ickier things I learned - YUCKOLA!!!

Me no likey! All that much more for you and Marcus, Cass! LOL!

  9. The Native says:

Hee! Not a southerner! And I will gladly eat your share of the peanuts!
